Paul has 15 years of experience working in the sports marketing and media industry. Having started out as a sports and media lawyer at a highly regarded London based law firm, and working for clients such as the Premier League, Universal Studios and National Magazines, Paul subsequently crossed over to the commercial world of sports and entertainment marketing in 1998 and has held senior positions at ISL, Octagon and IMG. Paul has worked on a variety of commercial, media and sponsorship related matters in connection with events organised and staged by FIFA, UEFA, FIBA, BCCI, Indian Premier League, Cricket Australia, ECB, New Zealand Cricket, The FA, The Football League, FINA, IAAF, Asian Games and the ATP Tennis Masters Series among many others.
Media (including Broadcast, Web, Broadband, Mobile Wireless Technology and DVD) Paul has extensive experience of advising agencies, governing bodies, event and team owners, as well as international brands on financing, producing, packaging, acquiring and selling audio and audio-visual rights to live sports events, factual, features and entertainment programming across all media platforms (including the plethora of mobile and digital networks that have emerged) throughout the world, as well as advising on the integration of content with video games, betting platforms and gaming products.
On the events side, Paul is familiar with advising blue chip brands, governing bodies, regional and local government and agencies on an array of commercial and marketing matters arising in relation to the creation, staging and commercialisation of sports, lifestyle and entertainment events. Whether relating to the procurement of event venues, talent, club and team participation, suppliers, design and production services, transport and security arrangements, Paul's experience derives from having worked on major sports and entertainment events such as the FIFA World Cup, Asian Games, FINA World Swimming Championships, various international football matches and tours, music festivals, the British Grand Prix, and FIFA European Pro Beach Soccer.

Paul's previous experience working for a leading global talent agency saw him represent and advise on commercial arrangements relating to a broad range of athletes and personalities, including Paula Radcliffe, Jason Robinson, Patrick Viera, Frank Lampard, D’arcy Bussel, Darren Gough, Andy Murray and The Duchess of York. This background, combined with his broader marketing and sponsorship experience, means that he is well placed to advise brands in connection with the procurement of athletes and personalities for endorsement and media campaigns as well as for sponsorship leverage and activation programmes. Among the leading brands that Paul has represented are Vodafone, Zurich Financial Services, MasterCard, Braun, Tesco, iShares and Unilever. In 2010, Paul represented Barclays in relation to the negotiation and procurement of tennis legends Boris Becker and Pat Cash for the purposes of activating Barclay's title sponsorship of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.
Paul is an expert in sponsorship rights acquisition, management and exploitation. Whether the sponsorship rights relate to sports events, teams, governing bodies, venues, entertainment or cultural productions, Paul has a strategic approach designed to identify and deliver the key rights and benefits necessary to enable brand clients to execute integrated activation, leverage and media campaigns across traditional media channels, digital and social networks. Sailing - advising iShares in relation to its award winning title sponsorship of the pioneering pan European Extreme Sailing Series, the iShares Cup
Tennis - advising Barclays in relation to its title sponsorship of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals
Cricket – advising NatWest, LG and Cable and Wireless in relation to the ICC Cricket World Cup, and England Internationals (eg The Nat West Series) Football - advising Continental and MasterCard on the acquisition and utilisation of sponsorship rights to the FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Football Championships Rugby – Paul represented and advised Zurich Financial Services in relation to its title sponsorship of the Premiership and the shirt sponsorship for the Lions Tour to New Zealand in 2005.
